Urgent: Metal thefts, we need your help!
Metal theft is on the rise in our community and the City needs your help in solving the problem. Recently, metal thieves have struck in our area and have stolen fire hydrants, manhole covers, chain link fencing and wiring out of street lights. The thieves even stole a manhole cover off a well traveled street creating a hazardous condition for an unsuspecting motorist. As you can imagine, these people have little regard for public safety and are jeopardizing our citizens safety.
Here is what you can do:
- Be on the lookout for suspicious activity. If you see someone working on a city asset (fire hydrants, manhole covers, chain link fencing or street lights) and they are not in an official city or water district vehicle
- Write down their license plate number as well as a description of the vehicle and persons
- Call the police and report what you’ve seen.
Additionally, as the attached link indicates, Eastern and Western Water Districts are offering rewards for catching these thieves.
Remember, if we all work together and watch out for your neighbors, we will be successful in catching these thieves!
